7-14-10: Well the HeliHeads Fun Fly 2010 is officially over and the turnout was GREAT!!! We could not have asked for better
weather and perfect timing on it. This year was a lot of fun (as always) and we got to see some great flying, and some great
crashes. Thank you to everyone who attended and also everyone who helped out with the Fun Fly. I updated the Fun Fly page
with some of the pictures I took. It is basicly the ones I sent out the other day, but in case you were missed. See
everyone at the flying field soon....
06-02-10: We have now come up with the official dates for the HeliHeads
FunFly 2010. This will be on July 9th, 10th, 11th. The 9th will be more of a "arrive and setup evening" starting after
5:00 with a open fly until dark, or night flying if someone has a night helicopter. Pilot registration will be at 8:00 am Saturday
morning. Space for camping is limited, so RSVP early. A $15.00 landing fee for pilots will include a Saturday
feast and a ticket for a drawing of the new Synergy N5 helicopter.
Special guest will include, Mr. Henry Caldwell, Mr. Matt Botos,
and Mr. Marcus Kim as well as others to provide a incredible helicopter flying show. This is a helicopter only flying event
due to the limited amout of space at our field. RSVP's are welcome and appreciated. For the wives and kids, we also have
locally the Biltmore Estate and the Blue Ridge Parkway as well as two shopping malls and other attractions nearby.
03-31-10:
Well as you can see from the carnage, Eddie and I had a bad day. His 600 and then my 500. Eddie dumb thumb his, and my
tail support rods came loose and then the tail vibrated in causing the belt to come loose and I almost saved it.......but didn't!!!
I just was not lucky with mechanical issues today. My tail rotor control linkage came off and I lost it, replaced it at the
field, then the belt kept slipping after a few minutes. So I went to the 500 and was doing some normal figure eights and then
on my third battery tried a berrell roll and it had some MASSIVE pitch and after I rolled out of it like crazy, the tail support rods
came loose. I was very disappointed coming home today, as bill would say, it was a walk of shame and a drive of shame!!!
03-24-10:
Check out the new pictures on the home page. I took these with my 450.......inverted......while doing a tale slide.......with
a piero.........and then a twisty flip.......really!!!!!!
03-24-10: Beautiful day today. Started off bad, first flight
out my new antenna mod didn't work and I lost signal. This is why you should do a range check from time to time. LOL
Finally got my EXI500 up and running good. Rick had some super hot flights with his 450's and scale. Farhan decided to
see if he could fly after leaving his transmitter on for two days, this doesn't work. We did manage to bring the LiPo back from
the dead, and he flew the rest of the day.....until he decided to weld the piston to the top of the engine head. Eddie had some
nice flights and also with his little 450 scale. Eddie and Rick need to have a battle flight of the scale 450's. Bill
was......well....he is just Bill and NEVER a dull moment. LOL I got some great pics of Eddie and Farhan doing some nice
inverted flights in the blue sky with the moon in the background. After tweaking another of my 450's, I got alot of flights
in trying to burn through some of my batteries doing some super fast figure eights. Even flew my little Park Zone micro Suikoi.
All in all and nice day....other than that crash thing...
03-10-10: What a Sunday we had. Five crashes, Mac, Eddie,
Bill, Joey, Brian. The past two Sundays have been really nice with a large crowd. I guess we will have to start taking
numbers in order to fly on Sundays! I added a lot more photos to the website. There may be some duplicates on some pages.
We will just replace these with more photos from upcoming days.
02-07-10: Superbowl Sunday!!! I have no idea who
is even playing, I would rather be outside on a much warmer day flying some helicopters. I wanted to let everyone know I had
to delete the youtube account and create another one for us a www.youtube.com/heliheadsclub The reason for this is when I created
the account I used my personal email address for the account, when you use a google email account with youtube, it makes you keep
it FOREVER!! So if for some reason I needed to turn over the account to someone else in the future (like Eddie), all my personal
email account goes with it, they will not allow you to just change the email for the account to someone else. So I created aheliheads@gmail.com and linked it to the new site, again, they wouldn't let me link it to the old site. So update your
bookmarks and favorites to the new address. Eddie and I both will try to start uploading more stuff. The file sizes are
big and it takes awhile to upload videos so I needed someone else to help me.
01-17-10: A minor update of the site.
Farhan was nice enough to provide us with some new Raptor RIP pictures last week. Thanks Farhan. Not a lot of activity
due to the weather, I still have snow on my back porch. I had a total of about 18". Of course Eddie has been to the field
more than anybody, I think he believes he flies for the US Post Office, you know, RAIN, SLEET or SNOW! I have been working on
my new EXI-500 and rebuilding some 450's. Also if anyone knows anyone who wants to get into the hobby, I have two 450's with
everything but batteries, TX, and RX. They are $150 each. If anyone is interested, please see Eddie. I assumed since
he lives at the flying field, it would be easier to let him keep them for anyone who is interested. C.J. also got a new
Trex 500 for Christmas. I stripped out a tail gear during a test flight when a tail boom support came loose and I panicked and
pulled back a little two quick, but was lucky and only stripped a gear. C.J. had a bad deans connector and lost power while
in the air, and wasn't so lucky. Well I hope everyone had a great holiday and enjoyed the blizzard, I am suprised how much a
am looking forward to warm weather and blue skies now that I am into this hobby. Don't forget also, all membership fees and
paper work are now PAST DUE and must be given to Farhan. You can click on his member picture if you need to contact him via
email. Happy Flying.....Sad Crashing...
12-14-09: Changed the video section to R.I.P. Eddie and I were thinking
the samething. If anyone has any good disaster pictures, please send them to me and I will post them. Remember you can
click on anyones member picture to get the email address, if we have one for them. I still plan on posting more videos to our
youtube link www.youtube.com/heliheadsclub . I decided to just leave the videos there because youtube takes care of all
the web based viewing and I don't think our website host will allow the bandwidth needed.
12-14-09: Updated the members
page with the field officer's titles and names. Thanks goes to Chad for the suggestion.
12-1-09: All 2010 membership
fees of $50.00 are now due. Please make checks out to Farhan Iqbal or HeliHeads. You can drop off your payment at the
field or mail directly to: Farhan Iqbal, 60 Ashley Woods Drive, Arden, NC 28704. Please click on the Info button
for detailed information about membership.
11-17-09: This past Sunday and Monday were beautiful days. The weather
has been great for being the middle of November. We had a lot of people show up Sunday for a great day of flying. I had
a ball link come loose, but manage to get it down. Eddie didn't have the same luck when his tail rotor went out. This
may have had something to do with the 200 mile piero's he was doing. LOL
11-17-09: I plan on adding a option that
would allow you to email other members when you click on the members picture. I am still working on getting some more videos
posted and also embeded into the video section. Until I get the time to embed them, just click the Youtube logo or goto www.youtube.com/heliheadsclub
11-17-09:
Added some new member pictures and updated the above pictures of Eddie's little 450 with the T-Rex 600 canopy. I think
this looks really cool in the air.
11-04-09: If you take a look at the above pictures, you will see the new M.E.C.E helicopter
mod. (Mac.Eddie.Custom.Edition) We plan on selling these for $49.99, extra zip ties for the first 500 orders. We
know people are getting tired of the high cost of the 600 size nitros, and as you know love the low cost of the 450 size electric.
So now you can have the best of both worlds. Place your orders now for the new M.E.C.E helicopter mod now, supplies may be limited
in your area.
11-04-09: We had another great day at the field today, weather has been great recently. We all left
the field with all the heli's intact and no crashes. It was me (MAC), Eddie, Farhan, Bill and Ken. Randy stopped by the
other day to tell us how much he loves being able to work and watch us fly from the CPU building everyday. We are glad we can
inspire him during his LONG work day. LOL
11-04-09: I have not had a lot of time to work on the website and I am
still learning how to do some things. I will try to keep anything new listed here under the news section. I have created
a website on www.youtube.com/heliheads and will start uploading videos there and then inserting certain videos into the video section
of the site, but all videos will be available on youtube. I also created a Flickr account for us, but not sure how I will use
that with the website.
11-04-09: Updated some of the member pictures.
